Mommy Meeting

It occurred to me this week that I have not mentioned the Mommy Meeting we go to every week on the blog. Keaton was three weeks old when I ventured into the Cincinnati Family Enrichment Center for the first time. I can remember it seeming like a momentous occasion that I even managed to get both of us there. I sat down in a group of women and felt extremely relieved to have somewhere to connect with other moms and figure out all the baby stuff I was going to need to know. It has been wonderful to hear everyone's trials and triumphs and have a place to ask all of the questions that come up. I really enjoy this group and it is going to be one of the hardest things to give up when I go back to work.

Now Mommy Meeting has become part of our weekly routine and instead of sitting on a couch for an hour or so, I am up chasing Keaton around as she plays with the other kids. The two pictures below are one of her friends. Gio was born the exact same day as Keaton and his mother and I spend a lot of time comparing notes on what they are doing. It was amazing how remarkably similar they were up until this past month. It is funny that at the moment they started to diverge in what they were learning developmentally was when they started to interact with one another. Here is Keaton trying to "hold" Gio's hand while they both were eating some lunch.

This second picture is of Gio giving Keaton a kiss. Larry said he thought he had a few more years until he had to use the "I've been to prison and I'm not afraid to go back line". I don't think he has much to worry about at this point.

Seven Months

It is amazing to me how far we have come in such a few short months. I spent most of last Friday in amazement that Keaton was just being born seven months prior. She has learned how to sit up, crawl, babble, and terrorize the cats quickly. The picture below is one of the first times she managed to go from all fours to sitting up on her own. She is doing this frequently now. Unfortunately, she has not learned that it is painful when she violently throws herself backwards and hits her head. Hopefully, she will learn that this week!

Keaton can now:
  • scoot backwards
  • sit up from all fours
  • reach above her from all fours
  • say "dada"-again and again and again
  • is eating two meals a day of fairly thick food. She has now had bananas, winter squash, sweet potato, turnips, applesauce and cereal.

She is also in the process of getting four new teeth all at once. Pictures to come as soon as they are in a bit more.

All of her seven month pictures are now on the kodak website. The link is on the left.
