We Are Checked In

We are checked in and I am hooked up. I am having contractions but they are still very mild. Our nurse checked me when we got here and I am still 2 cm dilated. Cross your fingers!

Induction Tomorrow

We are finally down to the big day. I am checking in to Good Sam tomorrow morning at 5 AM. They will induce my labor and we will see how things go from there. I am guessing that I will not be answering my cell phone. Larry is going to try to put updates on the blog for those tech savvy people who want to know what is going on. Keep checking tomorrow for updates! Hopefully, things will go smoothly. Baby Stephens will be on her way!

Waiting

I know I have been quiet. The truth is that there has not been much to tell. We have been in a holding pattern for the past couple weeks and we are still there. My due date is Sunday and we are still waiting. I am scheduled for an indcution next Wednesday the 9th. One way or the other we will be having a baby in the next week. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. We will definitely be posting pictures and info as soon as something happens, but until then we will be here. . . waiting.

Roomba vs. Big Arn

We made the switch recently from a regular vacuum to a Roomba. The thing is awesome so far. I was expecting much more animated reactions out of the cats, but I thought Big Arn's reaction was still fairly funny. They definitely are not sure what to think about it and everyone goes on high alert as soon as Roomba starts to do its thing.

The Nursery

We finally can say that we have a nursery. This is what we started with.

This is what we have now. Larry has finished painting and laying carpet.

Now we get to do the fun stuff like hang pictures, move in furniture, etc. It will still take us a week or so, but it is nice to be able to actually have a room and not a construction site! Larry has done an awesome job! It looks great. I can't wait to see it with everything in it.

Saving the Best for Last

Sorry it has been a while. I have been busy writing thank you notes, organizing all the baby stuff, and getting ready to return to work. I wanted to post pictures of my last shower and have finally uploaded the pictures!

Saturday the 25th I had my last shower up in Dayton with my mom's side of the family. It was absolutely wonderful. Cindy, Amy, and Lindsay outdid themselves. Luckily, Larry and I were still going rounds about how to decorate the babies room, because I received some family heirlooms that will definitely be put to good use.

Alana gave me this baby quilt made by my great grandmother. We are going to hang it over the crib .

My aunt Norma gave me six of these wooden puzzles that my great grandfather made out of the old linen children's books. They are amazing. I have framed them and will be putting them up in the nursery when we get to that point.

Alana also gave me a Halloween costume that my mother made for her son Griffin. I also have a picture of me wearing it. Guess what Baby Stephens will be wearing for Halloween in 2010.

Alana also gave me an amazing felt book that shows a whole barn yard scene when unfolded. It is hand made. My mother made it for Griffin when he was young. It is in perfect condition. I have not found a frame for the book yet, but it will definitely be going up, out of reach, in the nursery. I never knew my mother was so crafty.

I absolutely cherish everything I received, but the things my mom made really got to me. It has been very hard going through this without her. She would be absolutely beside herself by now waiting on her first grandchild. All the wonderful gifts really did make me feel like Mom had left something for her granddaughter without even knowing it.

I will be posting all the shower pictures on our kodak website. Feel free to take a look. The password is brutus.

Clifton House Shower and New Camcorder

The shower at the Clifton House was last Sunday. Nancy and Tracy did a wonderful job at creating a beautiful shower. I had a wonderful time, but it seemed like everything went by in a whirlwind. It is hard to believe that we are getting this close to the end. Six weeks from this Sunday is my due date.

We bought a camcorder on Saturday after researching them for a couple of weeks. Jill was nice enough to tape some of the shower. I have included a couple of videos below. I am pretty impressed with my tech skills. I uploaded them to the blog with no problem. We will see if they work out.

This video below is of me opening up a blanket that Larry's Aunt Amy made for the baby. It is the softest blanket. If it was cold out, I would be tempted to use it for myself.

Tracy knitted the cutest socks for the baby. They are made out of all different sorts of yarn and different patterns. They were adorable.
